Itâs unfortunately in this great bike world we have some people try to take on advantage of others, while we all share the same experience, the 09/01/2024 my son was in willebroek, where he attends his daily school, he comes from Antwerp, and he takes maybe 45 min everyday for this trip, so yesterday he had his crankset bold lose, from a very recently bought bike, the shop owner insisted that he knew best how to tighten this bold and he asked for 1h30min to complete this task, when my son after waiting this 1h30 in the freezing cold of -3 degrees he went to pick up his bike the shop owner with his mouth full of a sandwich said there was a big problem, but in the bearings inside the crankset, so he insisted that it could only be fixed by his special glue, and that he has done this several times, so upon receiving this harsh news my son was a bit upset and he didnât want to pursue the only solution the bike shop owner had to offer so he kindly asked if he could put it back has it was because it was working fine before he entered the shop and the shop owner refused to set it back and got angry, my son needed to do 24km back to Antwerp, and still the shop owner refused and after listening to my son begging him he went and threw my sons bike outside right on the front of the shop, my son in desperation went and called the willebroek police department to ask what he could do, and they said thereâs not much they could do about it and that thereâs been more scenarios like this, they brought him safely home. Thank you for the willebroek police department, and be careful out there, some people that donât know you might try to take advantage, whats very sad in our bike community, follow up, the bike was today brought to a normal shop and was reassembled like before and itâs back to perfect condition!
The photo is how the crankset inner bearings where presented to my son upon picking up the bike, the saddest part is why he didnât put it back and allowed my son to go back to Antwerp, very sad. We wouldnât had minded to pay 50⏠just to get the bolt tighten in the first place, today this normal shop did it in front of us and in less than 7 minutesâŠ.
